Finance Systems Analyst (Job ID: 20191004)

Status: Part-time, Temporary (until March 31, 2020; possibility of an extension) Vacancies: One  |  FTE: 0.6 (24 hours per week)  |  Schedule: Wednesday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Finance Systems Analyst is responsible for the design and updates to the finance department’s models for the purpose of developing simulations, analyses and reports. The Finance Systems Analyst participates in improving and proposing solutions to improve tools, analysis models and processes.



  • Design and build: Excel worksheets or templates to assist with employee benefits reconciliation and year-end analysis; budget worksheets with prescribed requirements according to business plan and organizational policies; reports that allow for efficient month-to-month expense variance analysis.
  • Analyze finance systems requirements thoroughly to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in cross-functional troubleshooting, analysis and training.
  • Analyze current accounting program to identify gaps causing inefficiencies; explore and present practical alternatives to resolve and address current issues.
  • Design workflow processes and create manuals upon completion of assignment.
  • Submit project status updates to the Manager of Finance; ensure data integrity by developing and running queries to assess data quality; ongoing quality control reviews.


Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in finance and/or accounting. A combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Functional knowledge: Advanced level knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce and Sage 300 ERP 2019; IBM analytics. Expert level user of Microsoft Excel to perform analytics, write macros and improve efficiency in monthly reporting; VLookup, Conditional Formatting, IF Formulas, Flash Fills, PivotCharts/Tables, Power View, Quick Analysis.

Experience: Strong working knowledge in finance, accounting and budget preparation. Must be prepared to present and share samples of past projects during progressive interview phases.

Organizational and problem-solving skills: Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Strong organizational skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a highly challenging environment

Communications and customer relations skills: Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to handle requests and complaints in a professional, non-confrontational manner. Excellent followup and problem-solving skills with ability to make intuitive decisions. Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information and material appropriately

Background check: A clear Criminal Background check and credit check are required to start.
