IT Analyst (Full-Time, Permanent)

Reporting to the Project Manager, the IT Analyst is responsible for identifying, defining and documenting requirements for internally used applications and solutions and project manages these undertakings from concept to deployment.  The ideal candidate will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to support good technology decisions.

 

Responsibilities

Information Gathering and Project Management

  • Gathers and documents the specific needs and requirements of IT requests and translates them into projects using the project management office (PMO) project initiation process.
  • Analyzes new projects to determine IT requirements.  Clearly articulates and documents business requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users, IT providers, consultants and other third-party vendors in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of projects to ensure optimal performance.
  • Consults with internal and external teams to identify, define and document IT and business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, and potential opportunities and solutions.
  • Creates in-house tools using Access, Excel, etc. to assist staff with requirements gathering and decision-making.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifies opportunities for improving IT and business processes through information systems and/or non-system changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.
  • Manages ongoing relationships with internal and external partners to drive satisfaction and transfer knowledge.
  • Identifies opportunities to build skills and knowledge including self-development, team knowledge and customer (internal) knowledge.

Member of IT Project Review Team

  • Analyzes the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new or enhanced systems, applications or software.
  • Presents findings of proposed operation initiatives and project IT needs analysis to cross-departmental IT Project Review Team.
  • Works within the team to rank and rate IT projects for approval.
  • Offers industry knowledge of potential solutions and opportunities.

Train, Rollout and Change Management

  • Ensures change management processes and communication activities related to implementation of IT component of projects.

IT Responsibilities

  • Creates databases to assist with streamlining and tracking work processes.
  • Advises on software deployment, training and change management.
  • Data migration into new systems.

Reporting

  • Collects and prepares information and reports using analytics, industry and competitive research and trends.
  • Consolidates information into cohesive and understandable correspondence or other written form for use in project management decision-making.
  • Delivers presentations to team, executive leaders and sponsors.
  • Creates and drives the design of integrated dashboards and monitoring systems.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies.

Experience: Minimum five years’ experience working on projects using the Project Management Professional methodology. Experience in business and functional knowledge in the area of IT management, preferably in the healthcare industry.

Organizational skills: Self-starter, efficient, organized and proven ability to produce top quality work in a highly challenging environment. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; strong documentation and business process diagramming.

Communications and customer relations skills: Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills with people at all levels. Excellent followup and problem-solving skills with ability to make intuitive decisions. Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information and material appropriately.

Attention to detail: Precision, accuracy and high attention to details in all aspects of work.

Team-oriented: Ability to work effectively independently as well as with a team.

Technical: Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Visio, Microsoft Project, Tableau, Cogno, Basecamp, Hubspot and Sharepoint. Experience with software deployment projects, data integration/migration projects and creating dashboards is an asset.

Additional Requirements

Background check: A clear Criminal Background check, inclusive of a vulnerable sector check, is required to start. If you have resided outside of Calgary in the past 12 months, you will need to contact the local police or RCMP detachment in your previous residential municipality to be able to obtain a full report.
