Payroll Analyst (Job ID: 202008-06)

Status: Full-time, Contract (four months)  Vacancies: One  | FTE: 1.0  |  Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Working collaboratively with our Finance team, and reporting to the Manager of Finance, you are responsible for full-cycle payroll processing. As the Payroll Analyst, you will join our team to play a key part in the Calgary West Central Primary Care Network’s (CWC PCN) communications with its employees and management team.

 

Responsibilities

Full-cycle, biweekly payroll processing using Ceridian Dayforce application. Activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure accuracy of employee profile data inputted by the Human Resources department
  • Review timesheets and attendance records and correct inaccuracies
  • Process record of employment in accordance with employment standards
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards and government tax regulations
  • Prepare and submit all necessary paperwork for tax deductions, benefits, and garnishments
  • Reconcile and review biweekly RRSP report and contribution
  • Perform year-end payroll activities including reconciliation of earnings, statutory deductions, and benefits.
  • Prepare and issue annual Statement of Remuneration Paid (T4 slip) prior to government deadline
  • Journalize the biweekly payroll summary report from Dayforce into accounting program (Sage 300 ERP)
  • Monthly update of the following payroll summary reports in Excel workbook
    • Headcount and FTE report
    • Earning and deductions report
  • Prepare annual payroll calendar for distribution within the CWC PCN
  • Report to management on payroll issues and changes
  • Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
  • Create physical and electronic documentation of payroll procedures

General office administration

  • Records management:
    • File all payroll related documents such as payroll registers, payroll changes and summary reports, benefits documentation, and other documentation as necessary.
    • Create and manage all payroll file and folders in accordance with CWC PCN records management standard and policy
  • Provide backup support to other members of the Finance team
  • Assist with implementation of a new application, Ultipro
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Finance

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll professional with prior experience as a payroll and benefits administrator at a small to mid-sized organization.

Education: Minimum post-secondary education/diploma. PCP designation is a strong asset.

Experience: Minimum of three years’ direct payroll processing and other payroll-related activities is required. Minimum of two years’ experience using Dayforce and Ultipro software.

Technical knowledge: Skilled user of Microsoft Office applications. Proficient user of accounting software, preferably Sage 300 ERP, Ceridian Dayforce, and Ultipro.

Organization skills: Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Strong organizational skills. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a highly challenging environment.

Communications and customer relations skills: Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to handle requests and complaints in a professional, non-confrontational manner. Excellent follow-up and problem-solving skills with ability to make intuitive decisions. Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information and material appropriately.

Attention to detail: Precision, accuracy, and high attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Team-oriented: Ability to work effectively independently as well as with a team.

Additional requirements

Background check: Clear Criminal Background check required, and credit check completed to start. If you have resided outside Calgary in the past 12 months, you will need to contact the local police or RCMP detachment in your previous residential municipality to be able to obtain a full report.
