Senior Communications Consultant (TEMP FT for 6 months, possible extension)

Reporting to the Director of Member Services & Engagement, the Senior Communications Consultant, in collaboration with the Leadership Team and Communications team, is responsible for the development of a strategic communications and stakeholder engagement framework for the Calgary West Central Primary Care Network. The Senior Communications Consultant is also responsible for developing a launch and implementation plan to ensure the Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Framework is understood and acted upon by stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Planning

Develop a Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Framework with the goals of:

  • Facilitating knowledge uptake and retention among key audiences and stakeholder groups
  • Stimulating improved engagement with and among key stakeholders, fostering a more positive relationship with the CWC PCN
  • Increasing awareness for all stakeholder groups of the CWC PCN’s:
    • vision related to the future of primary care
    • programs and services
    • progress of major projects
  • Ensuring that all members of the CWC PCN team from leadership through to frontline staff are clear on their duties when it comes to strategic and operational communication with all key target audiences and stakeholder groups
  • Ensuring communication that is effective, inspiring, motivational, accessible, actionable, credible, trusted, relevant, timely and understandable.

Provide strategic guidance on key messages, ongoing communication, and engagement tactics for target audiences and stakeholder groups. Recommend innovative communication methods to reach each target audience and stakeholder group, including segments and sub-segments.

Develop clearly defined roles and responsibilities for CWC PCN leaders, managers and frontline staff in the communication and stakeholder engagement efforts and initiatives undertaken by the organization.

Project Management

Liaise with the Project Management Office to coordinate project planning and with the Evaluation team to evaluate efficacy and impact of the framework.

Develop and present to the Leadership Team the work plan for developing the framework within agreed upon timelines. Present regular status updates as requested by the Leadership Team.

Build in mechanisms that support effective, sustainable change management for any staff who will be impacted by or who will be involved with the operationalization of the framework.

Develop and conduct training for any roles involved in the operationalization of the framework.

Qualifications

Education: University degree in Communications, Public Relations and/or related discipline.

Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years’ recent related experience in a communications or public affairs role in a mid-sized public sector, healthcare and/or similarly complex organization. Experience in the development of strategic communications plans with similar or greater complexity is required. Experience working with physicians and other healthcare professionals will be considered an asset. Strong organization, attention to detail, communications, team-oriented and safety-conscious skills are required.

Background check: A clear criminal background check, inclusive of vulnerable sector check, is required to start. If you have resided outside Calgary in the past 12 months, you will need to contact the local police or RCMP detachment in your previous residential municipality to be able to obtain a full report.
